GREAT SAGE

"Great Sage is about the best thing that ever happened to suburban Maryland. Located in Clarksville, this restaurant has been serving vegetarian cuisine since 2004. Now with an entirely vegan menu, it draws patrons from both the DC and Baltimore metro areas. Best of all, Great Sage is part of Conscious Corner, an entire shopping center dedicated to offering conscious choices. It began with Roots Market, an independent organic grocery store, then expanded to include Nest, a socially responsible gift and clothing boutique, and Bark, a natural and organic pet food and supplies store. Most recently, they also opened a clothing store for men called "Boulder for Men.""

"I eat at Great Sage whenever I am in central MD. It is all vegetarian, and mostly vegan. Their banana walnut smoothie is a favorite - thick and a nice flavor change from the more typical tropical fruity-flavored smoothies one usually gets. They have a vegan Caesar salad, but get the smaller sized order - it will be enough. They always have a special soup and special entrée which your waiter/waitress will tell you about. There is some outdoor seating in nice weather. Some of their menu items (like vegan potato salad) are occasionally available for take out at the large Roots natural supermarket next door (owned by the same people). Roots has a large selection of organically grown produce, some of which makes its way into Great Sage menu items. Definitely worth a visit. Plenty of free parking."

"The Great Sage is one of the few vegetarian/vegan restaurants in the area but I continue to visit because of the wonderful service and great food. Every time I have gone to eat at The Great Sage, I have always left feeling good. With the proportions out of control in America, The Great Sage always gives the perfect amount of proportions to leave you full and satisfied. The staff is always cheery and are always there to greet you when you walk in. They are very knowledgeable about the items served as well as the ingredients to ensure that every customer is pleased with their meal. The prices are very reasonable, especially with the quality of service and food that is given in return! I hope that those reading this review will have the opportunity to visit The Great Sage and experience the great food and the wonderful atmosphere!"
