    COMMENTS FROM VegDining.com VISITORS:
"I went to Country Life twice while on a solo holiday to Prague in May 2010. They have a health food shop and a cafeteria-style restaurant where you pay by weight (about 29 CZK per 100g when I was there). They have a selection of cold dishes/salads, hot dishes and a few desserts. I?d describe the offerings as ?comfort food? (reminds me of a similar restaurant in London also called Country Life which sadly closed down years ago). I particularly liked the roasted potatoes and the salad with lettuce and black olives. They had a ?burrito? which of course tasted nothing like a burrito - it tasted more like an Amy?s vegetable pot pie (in Czech Republic I noticed they use Mexican terms for food which is very un-Mexican). Other items were broccoli salad (good), cucumber salad (blah), and veggie burger-style pieces (a cold dish, not very tasty). The bottled mango juice was great (cheaper in the shop than in the restaurant).

Also check out the shop. They have Alpro soy milk, soy puddings, lots of refrigerated faux-meat products, cereals, candy, sauces and some interesting jams and spreads. I picked up some sojove platky and kostky (dried soy protein cutlets and nuggets).

If you?re going to Prague, Country Life is your best bet for veg food. I tried to go to the other location (Jungmannova) and it was closed. The lunch rush starts after 1.00pm, when it can get quite crowded. Otherwise there are plenty of seats and most of the people there are eating alone. Unlike most shops in Prague, here the cashiers did not speak English. The nearest metro station is Mustek - when you get out of the station just walk straight down the opposite direction to Wenceslas square."

"I have been going to Country Life since my first visit to Prague in 1998. It is one of the best vegan restaurants in this beautiful city. They serve a buffet with a wide selection of salads and hot foods. They also have pre-made sandwiches. The options change daily. Yes I eat at least 1 meal per day there. It's a great way to eat some Czech cuisine that is also vegan. They usually offer a Czech style dish every day.

You pay by the weight of your dish and per bowl of soup. It's also the best deal in town. It's easy to miss the restaurant as the entrance is through a courtyard on a small medieval street. Look for the Country Life health food store on the street and the courtyard is to the left of there. It's just a short walk (3-5 minutes) from the Astronomical Clock Tower. Enjoy!!"
