"When we stop in Portland, Maine, we always eat at the Green Elephant, our current favorite restaurant in the state. With their many vegan offerings, we can choose several things on their creative menu; whatever we order is always absolutely delicious. There are so many wonderful creations to choose from! Their soups are especially flavorful, but my favorite entrée is a coconut curry with seitan and sweet potatoes; pair this with one of their organic vegan wines, and you will be in heaven. Even if you are not vegetarian, if you are traveling to Maine, make sure to stop at least once at the Green Elephant. You will be delighted by the whole experience of dining there."

"Almost all vegan except for a couple items which contain egg but could be ordered without. Awesome food, one of the best places to grab lunch or dinner. Especially recommend the Crispy Wonton (wontons stuffed with soy cheese and spinach) and Peanut Curry (soy meat, chickpea, sweet potato, carrot, and onion in coconut milk curry sauce). Specialties are also recommended. Lots more different meals to try, look at the menu online. Nice little place. It's downtown, right off the corner of High Street and there's always parking on High Street."
