"The motto on the front sign reads "Good food, good karma," and I would agree. Located on the edge of Old Louisville, surrounded by wonderful examples of Victorian architecture, Third Avenue Cafe is a bright spot in the otherwise dismal restaurant scene of downtown Louisville.
The menu features numerous vegetarian selections, and at least one, sometimes two, vegan options in each category, including appetizers, soups, salads, pasta, entrées, sides, and desserts. The restaurant is charming, and the service fast and friendly. It seems to serve a neighborhood clientèle. A number of people were seated at tables sipping coffee or tea and chatting.
I had a wonderful vegan "meatloaf", with a vegetable medley and edamame on the side. All were well prepared and well seasoned. My total bill was $10.
The restaurant is a 10-15 minute walk from the downtown 4th Street hotel area. There is also good bus service."
