GREEN SPROUT VEGETARIAN CUISINE

"Whenever we are in Atlanta, either passing through or there for something special (like Dragon*Con every Labor Day weekend) we eat as many meals as possible at Green Sprout. Even though we only eat there about twice a year, we are recognized by the staff and greeted with smiles. The restaurant specializes in "veggie meat" but I'm not talking Morningstar Farms-like food. The veggie meat is made on site, and looks/tastes like shrimp, pork, chicken, fish, and beef, but with a twist. My kids love the sweet and sour chicken, beef and pork, but the adults love the vegan fish wrapped in bean curd skin and then fried. Wonderful. It's something you have to try, even though the pictures don't do it justice. This restaurant is great to take meat eaters who are interested in trying something new. It has the atmosphere of a typical Chinese restaurant and attracts a wide variety of diners."

"After living in Atlanta since 93, I somehow just discovered this absolute gem of a restaurant this year! My first order was the Curry Chicken, and it was amazing. (I've tried vegetarian curry chicken from many places, and this is most definitely the best.) I ordered it numerous times after that, until one day when they had run out of that particular "chicken". They suggested Empire Chicken in it's place, I reluctantly agreed, and I think it may even be tastier than my old favorite - and this is coming from a very picky eater. I can't say enough good things about this place and after having to move 15 minutes outside of town recently, I will most definitely be making special trips back just to get this food. I can't imagine anyone being unhappy with this place!!!"

"Visited this restaurant on a visit to Atlanta in May 2007 and was very impressed. Dishes are prepared with care, especially the house mushroom soup which is fantastic in a clear broth. Restaurant decor/vibe is relaxed and comfortable. Entrees are excellent."
